Dylan Shugart

September 15, 1985 — May 31, 2008

Mr. Dylan Shugart, age 22 of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Calhoun, departed this life to be with his Lord on Saturday May 31st, 2008 at the University of North Carolina Medical Center at Chapel Hill.

Dylan was born in Whitfield County, Georgia on September 15, 1985, son of Gary and Debbie Carney Shugart. Prior to moving to Wake Forest in 2003, he attended Calhoun High School. He was a proud member of the Calhoun High School Yellow Jacket Marching Band as a trumpet player, and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was a member of the 2004 graduating class of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. Dylan was a student of North Greenville University pursuing a degree in biology. He served in the Children's Ministry, Music Ministry and Mission Ministry at Wake Crossroads Baptist Church, where he was a member. Those loved ones that preceded him in death were his grandparents, Buster and Lenora Carney, and a cousin, Lori Parker.

Survivors include his parents, Gary and Debbie Carney Shugart of Raleigh; aunts and uncles, Sheila and Jerry Parker of Chatsworth, Doyle Carney of Gainesville, GA, Gina and Oscar Campbell of Calhoun, and Jerry and Tammi Shugart of Resaca; and cousins, Chris, Kelley, Danyel and Rylee Parker, Jason, Michael and Matt Carney, and Dustin and Patti Shugart. Grandparents, Bernard and Jill Shugart of Resaca, and great grandfather, Reid Carney of Rome also survive.

A service to celebrate Dylan's life will be held Saturday, June 7th at 11:00 AM from Trinity Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include the following gentlemen; David Hammond, Steve Bone, Chris Parker, Kelly Parker, Drew Pearce and Dustan Shugart.

The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Dylan's memory to Wake Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund. Offering envelopes will be available at Trinity Baptist Church.
