Mrs. Dymple Brannon Childers, 81 of Fairmount, GA died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Gordon Health Care. She was born in Gordon County on January 27, 1935, daughter of the late Bobby Lee and Audrey Shirley Brannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis C. Childers; brothers, Harold Brannon, Howell Brannon, R.L. Brannon, and Herman Glenn Brannon; and sisters, Eula Mae Crowe, Mildred Johnson, Betty Childers, and Ruth Griffin.
Mrs. Childers was a member of Fairmount First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Garah Childers, Freddy and Sarah Childers, and Timmie and Lynn Childers, all of Fairmount; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Edd Haynes of Hiram; a sister and brother-in-law, Willene and Bill Cochran of Acworth; a brother-in-law, William Childers of Jasper; and sisters-in-law, Jessie Smith of Calhoun, Geneva Barrett, Willene and James Buchanan of Jasper, and Grace Brannon of Cartersville. Grandchildren surviving are Shane Kirby, Aaron Childers, Ethan Childers, Corey Childers, Cody Childers, Brandon Patterson, Marisa Young, and Karmin Dean; and great-grandchildren, Tate Kirby, Mason and Katy Patterson, Eli Patterson, Sawyer and Ezra Childers, Londyn Childers, and Brian Haynes. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mrs. Dymple Brannon Childers will be held Wednesday, March 16th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery, with Brandon Patterson conducting the committal service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and will include Shane Kirby, Aaron Childers, Ethan Childers, Cody Childers, Brandon Patterson, and Corey Childers. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Scoggins, Donnie Childers, Lamar Cochran, Steve Brannon, Kenny Childers, and Danny Griffin.
The Childers family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 15th at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Fairmount First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 186, Fairmount, GA 30139.
