Earl Muse, age 94, of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation in Summerville, GA. He was a life-long resident of the Oostanaula Community, and a member of Oostanaula Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was an Anti-Aircraft Gun Crewman, and received the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Troy Lee Wyatt Muse, in 2011; a son, David Muse; his parents, Chesley and Joanna Bramlett Muse; brothers, Grady, Jake, Sam, and Melvin Muse; and sisters, Clemee Simmons, Lila Gay Bunch, and Frances Wood and her husband Carl.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darlene Muse of Calhoun; his daughter, Doris Muse of Lyerly; grandsons, Dwayne Muse and wife Erica, and Josh Muse and wife Elyse; a granddaughter, Kaveri Muse Hornick and husband Benji; great-grandsons, Will, Ty, Greyson, and Garrett Muse; a sister-in-law, Sarah Muse; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of the life of Earl Muse will be held on Sunday, January 7th at Oostanaula Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at the church. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, with Rev. David Peeler and Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Music will be arranged by the Oostanaula choir. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Oostanaula Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Gandy officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Larry Pratt, Jerry Miller, Max Blalock, Tommy Blalock, Samuel Beasley, and Terry Nesbitt. Honorary pallbearers are Dude Bailey, Hollis Patterson, Ted Dutton, Bill Goforth, David Grogan, Brian Grogan, Dustin Webb, Attwood Cannon, Sammy King, Jerry Walraven, Chris Hughes, Jim Hobgood, and the management and staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
In lieu of flowers, Earl had requested donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities(r) of Greater Chattanooga, 200 Central Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37403, or on their website, or Calhoun Pregnancy Center, Inc., 200 East Belmont Drive, Calhoun, GA 30703.
