Edna Jewell Wright

Mrs. Edna Jewell Wright, age 82 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born in Cherokee County, Georgia on August 2, 1925, daughter of the late Dean and Maude Jones Dobbs. Mrs. Wright was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nellie Edwards in July, 1991; brothers, Millard Dobbs, Herbert Dobbs, Clarence Dobbs, Gene Dobbs, Garland Dobbs, Lawrence Dobbs, and Forrest Dobbs; and sisters, Cleo Wright, Lola May Dempsey, and Alma Hearlod.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, J.B. Wright; two daughters, Jessie Hensley and Patsy Long; sons-in-law, Authur Hensley and Craig Long; and grandchildren, Melissa Reynolds, Timothy Hensley, Sr., Karen Mowry, Shannon Jackson, and John Hensley. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Jewell Wright will be conducted Tuesday, February 26, at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Perry Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Daniel Mowry, Sr., J.J. Jackson, Timothy Hensley, Sr., Timothy (Fred) Hensley, Jr., Lamar Reynolds, and Daniel Eric Mowry, Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
