Mrs. Edna Lee DeFoor, age 82 of Resaca, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Quinton Memorial Health Care Center in Dalton following several months of illness.
She was born on February 8, 1928 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Bartow and Mattie Pearl Jordan Hales. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee DeFoor, two sisters, Flonnie Hales and Goldamae Sluder, and a brother, Oscar D. Hales.
She became a Christian in 1942 at Evergreen Baptist Church, and later became a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church, having been a member since 1948. Her and her late husband's life revolved around the ministry of the church. She served as church treasurer, church clerk, Sunday School teacher, and was caretaker of the church cemetery fund. She enjoyed cooking, farming, and traveling, and in her earlier years was a member of the Gordon County Homemakers Club. She also worked as an Avon representative for forty-five years.
Mrs. DeFoor is survived by two sons, Dan DeFoor and his wife Mary and Jeffery DeFoor and his wife Rita, all of Resaca; a sister, Willene Reed of Calhoun; three grandchildren, Myranda Stephens, Matthew DeFoor and Kaitlin DeFoor; and a great grandchild, Hank Stephens. Nieces, nephews and many dear friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Lee DeFoor will be conducted at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Corinth Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmie Timms, Rev. Kenneth Stephens, and Rev.
