Edna Mullinax Mathis

Mrs. Edna "Maxine" Mullinax Mathis age 71 of Pickens County, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon while a patient of Wildwood Health Care.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Pickens County on January 22, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eula Griffin Mullinax, and by two brothers, Cleburn and Eugene Mullinax. She was a retired textile worker, having been employed by Candlewick Yarns prior to her retirement.

Survivors include her husband Gene Mathis, to whom she was married for 50 years; three sisters, Lorea Thompson of Travelers Rest, SC, Joyce Ridley of Dawsonville, GA, and Shirley Defoor and her husband Randy of Calhoun; two brothers, James Mullinax and his wife Sue of Marietta, and Wallace Mullinax and his wife Hazel of Jasper; and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna "Maxine" Mullinax Mathis will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. David LeGrand officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Gilmer County. Honorary pallbearers will include the staff of Wildwood Health Care.

The family will begin receiving friends Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
