Mrs. Edna Wright Rogers, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on November 1, 1919, daughter of the late Weston Andrew and Cora Franklin Wright.
Mrs. Rogers was a nurse for more than 30 years, having worked at Gordon Hospital, Floyd Medical Center, and Cherokee Nursing Home. She was a charter member of Sequoyah Chapter #286, Order of the Eastern Star, and was member of the Calhoun First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, N.F. Rogers, Sr.; two sisters, Gladys Hurd, and Linda Angle; and four brothers, Kenneth, Trammell, Ralph, and Tom Wright.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Williams and her husband Boland; a sister, Janelle Nesbitt; two brothers, Ebb Wright and Mac Wright; a granddaughter, Kelly Murray and her husband Matt; and three great grandchildren, Sarah Kitchens, Madeline Murray, and Jackson Murray, all of Calhoun.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Wright Rogers will be conducted Wednesday, June 17 at 10:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Dick Neeley officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include George Crowley, Jim Owens, Richard Rogers, Matt Murray, Buck Prather, and Gene Smith. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:15am. Honorary pallbearers will include employees of Morning Pointe Assisted Living. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Mrs. Rogers' name to the Calhoun First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
