Effie Mashburn Bridges

Mrs. Effie Mashburn Bridges, age 95 of Dalton, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born in Gordon County on August 30, 1916, daughter of the late Carl and Maude Pye Mashburn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Bridges; brothers, Floyd, Wilburn, Malcolm, and Leonard Mashburn; sisters, Florean Cline, Beulah Mashburn, and Lula Mae Whitener; and step-mother, Fannie Mashburn.

Mrs. Bridges was the oldest living member of Hill City Baptist Church. She loved working with her plants and flowers, and was very active up until the time of her death.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Carol Jacks of Dalton; grandchildren, Jill Steele, and Wendy (Richard) Bearden; great-grandchildren, Michaela Masucci, Emma Bearden, Jade Bearden, and Kate Bearden; and a great-great grandchild, Adam Masucci. Other survivors are nieces, nephews, and special care-giver nieces, Louise Long and Betty Brock.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Hamilton Medical Center for their love and care for Mrs. Bridges.

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Mashburn Bridges will be held Tuesday, December 13th at 2:00pm from the Hill City Baptist Church, with Rev. Woody Woodfin and Rev. Dewayne White officiating. Intombment will follow in the Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Brian Bailey, Randy Evans, Earnest Cline, Richard Bearden, Chris Brock, and Randy Potts. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 12:15pm.

Mrs. Bridges will lie in state at the Hill City Baptist Church Tuesday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Mrs. Bridges name to the Hill City Baptist Church.
