Elbert Patterson

Mr. Elbert Patterson, age 84 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Patterson was born on July 29, 1924 in Pickens County, Georgia, son of the late Arthur Hugh and Lula Bell Carrol Patterson. During his lifetime he served his country with the United States Army during World War II, and retired from American General Insurance Company. Mr. Patterson was a member of Ball Creek Baptist Church where he had served as church clerk for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Patterson of Canton and Randy Patterson of Holly Springs; a daughter, Donna Lynn Harry of Ball Ground; a brother, Rev. Lloyd Patterson of Calhoun; and four sisters, Odell Silvers of Canton, Ella (Pat) Patterson of Calhoun, Gladys Jones of Marietta, and Ruth Garlin of Calhoun. Six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Elbert Patterson will be conducted Sunday at 2:00pm from the Ball Creek Baptist Church in Pickens County, with Rev. Buddy Roper and Rev. Eugene Childers officiating. Singing will be conducted by the Moss Girls and the Ball Creek Baptist Church Choir. Active pallbearers serving will include Justin Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Thurmond Carver, Danny Clark, James Carver and Howard Carver. Raymond Langley will serve as honorary pallbearer. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Mr. Patterson will lie in state at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to the funeral service at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Friday and Saturday evenings, during the hours of 6 until 9 pm
