Elmer Nichelson

Mr. Elmer William Nichelson, age 67 of Fairmount, GA died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Nichelson was born on May 1, 1944 in Gordon County, son of the late Arthur Emory Nichelson and Ruby Mae Burgess Nichelson. During his lifetime, he served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid automobile mechanic who many people loved and appreciated for helping them with their car problems.

Mr. Nichelson is survived by his wife, Kathy Sue Timms Nichelson, to whom he was married for 28 years; three daughters, Kristie Everett and her husband Christopher of Fairmount, Candy Smith and her husband Randy of Calhoun, and Misty Patterson and her husband Cory of Adairsville; a son, Shane Shelton of Hiram, GA; and two sisters, Gean Carson of Cartersville, Christine Boswell and her husband Charlie of Cartersville; five grandchildren, Saresa Shelton, Jeffrey Shelton, Selena Smith, Deanna Smith and Kaci Swift; a special nephew, Courtney Timms; and special nieces, Brandi Bearden and Debbie Mullinax. Nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Military honors will be accorded and cremation will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to www.copdfoundation.org

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
