Elsie Mary Densmore

Mrs. Elsie Mary Densmore, age 74 of Oakman, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 at her residence following several months of declining health. She was born in Gilmer County on February 23, 1935, daughter of the late Jesse James Padgett and Vera Silvers Padgett. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John L. Densmore, Sr., and a sister, Joann Henderson. During her lifetime, she was employed in the textile industry, and was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Gilmer County.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Vera Padgett of Oakman; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Wanda Densmore, Jr. of Oakman, and Tracy and Debra Densmore of Fairmount; and two sisters, Rosie Beavers of Rocky Face, and Betty Correl of McDonough. Three grandchildren, Jay Lee Densmore, Jeannie Blankenship, and Scott Densmore; two great grandchildren, Levi and Hannah Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Mary Densmore will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00pm from the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Gilmer County, with Rev. Tony Blankenship and Rev. Robert Beavers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Scott Densmore, Jay Densmore, Terry Fouts, Chris Burger, Tim Henderson, and Eddie Mauldin. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Long, Andrew Beavers, Dennis Townsend, and David Montgomery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
