Mrs. Emily S. Wells, age 89 of Ranger, Georgia; passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her residence following several months of illness. Mrs. Wells was born on September 14, 1920 at Macon, Georgia. She is predeceased by her parents John T. Shealy and Lillian L. Shealy; by a brother, Col. William T. Shealy; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn S. and Clifford Vaughan and her loving husband of 61 years, Guy H. Wells, Jr.

Emily met her husband while a secretary to his father, Dr. Guy H. Wells, Sr, President of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. They were married in 1938 and moved to Atlanta and then to Marietta; Cobb County, Georgia where they resided and raised their family.and were members of First Baptist Church of Marietta for 42 years. During this time, Emily was a wife, a mother, a homemaker and a volunteer. She volunteered for the American Red Cross where she taught first aid, home health and CPR. She was very proud of the fact that she was a recipient of the American Red Cross Humanitarian Award and WSB's Shining Light Award.

After her children were grown and at the age of 48, Emily went back to college where she received her Associate Degree of Nursing from Kennesaw State College. For 11 years she worked in Kennestone Hospital's OBGYN Section and as an RN of Kennestne Hosital's IV Therapy Department. When she received the Employee of the Month award, it was said "as she moves throughout the hospital, almost everyone knows herA
