Mrs. Emmie Lou Bryant, age 84 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Gordon Health Care. She was born in Cherokee County, GA on November 18, 1926, daughter of the late Thomas and Lou Quinton Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lucius Donald "Buddy" Bryant on July 2, 2009; a brother, Tom Hill; and four sisters, Lois Wheeler, Clyde Ingle, Grace Tippens, and Faye Bigham.

Mrs. Bryant loved working with her flowers. She had been employed over the years with Dupree's Men's Store and Keene's Fashions, and was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Morrison and her husband Edwin, Susan Cantrell, and Julie Smith and her husband Bud, all of Calhoun; a sister, Ann Davis of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Holly Morrison, Emily Colburn, Russell Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Heath Duke, Amanda Pennel, and Autumn Smith; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emmie Lou Bryant will be held Friday, September 9th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. John Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Bud Smith, Russell Thomas, Heath Duke, Sam Pennel, Donnie Jones, and Jimmy Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Cantrell, Edwin Morrison, Brian Anderson, and Daniel Colburn.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Gordon Health Care and MorningPointe Assisted Living for their special care of Mrs. Bryant.
