Mrs. Emogene B. Allen, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Gordon Health Care Center. She was born in Gordon County on September 28, 1924, daughter of the late Ezra Merle and Irene Evans Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Allen; brothers, Ray Bryant, Leroy Bryant, Glenn Bryant, and Bobby Bryant; and sisters, Mozella Ferguson and Maxine Bryant.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Allen was employed with Georgia Tufters, and was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Avery and her husband Charles of Cartersville, and Regenia Sloan of Calhoun; and two sisters-in-law, JoDean Bryant and Loretta Bryant, both of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Kevin and Kristie Avery, Dale and Kristy Black, Kelly Carney, Kenny Carney, and Kaitlin Sloan; and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Zachary Avery, Brooklyn, Kalla, and Kolden Black, and Kyleigh and Kobie Carney. Special friends Sandy Jaco and Linda Strickland also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene B. Allen will be held Thursday, March 29th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Lamar Hand officiating. Music will be arranged by Richie Parker. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Clint Baker, Clay Baker, Baron Baker, Jeff Baker, Ricky Bryant, Scotty Bryant, Russell Bryant, and Neal Lay. Honorary pallbearers are Judith Smith and the staff of Gordon Health Care Center.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
