Mr. Ervin Wilford Greeson, age 83 of Resaca, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born on January 16, 1931 in Whitfield County to the late Claude Alexander Greeson and the late Lou Ella Barton Greeson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Baxter Greeson, Wilburn Greeson, Benson Greeson, Leon Greeson, and C.W. Greeson; and sisters, Lillie Ray, Mary Sue Talley, and Lois Johnson.
During his lifetime, Mr. Greeson was a veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and had been employed with Hiawassee Land Company. He was a former Volunteer Fireman for Resaca, and served as Sunday School Superintendent at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he was a member for many years.
He leaves behind his wife, Frances Gilbert Greeson of the home; two sons, Gene Greeson of Resaca, and Alan Greeson and his wife, Dr. Nataly Greeson of Miami, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and George Eggers of Resaca, and Teresa and Jerry Fuller of Calhoun; a brother, Everett Greeson of Resaca; a sister, Annie Ruth Greeson of Calhoun; and special friend, Linda Anderson. Grandchildren surviving are Todd and Behki Fuller, Tonya Fuller, Kevin and Nicole Cobb, Keisha and Stacy Hensley, Trey and Michelle Greeson, and a grandchild on the way; and great-grandchildren, Daulton and Cade Pepin, Barrett, Blaire, and Reese Fuller, Brandon and Callie Cobb, Zach, Avery, "AJ", and Trent Hensley, and Rylee and Brayden Greeson. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ervin Wilford Greeson will be held Sunday, February, 9th at 2:00 PM from the Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Calvin Anderson, Rev. Larry Hibberts, Rev. Stacy Hensley, and Ricky Smith officiating. Music will be arranged by Charles Bradford and Lori and Mandy Land. Mr. Greeson will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow the service in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Todd Fuller, Kevin Cobb, Daulton Pepin, Trey Greeson, Ricky Smith, Kevin Holsemback, and James Langley. The men of Mount Zion Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church.
The Greeson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday starting at 3:00 PM.
