Evelyn Champion Blaylock

Mrs. Evelyn Champion Blaylock, age 85, a resident of Hixson, TN since 1974, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012. She was born January 22, 1927, daughter of the late J.W. and Minnie Taylor Champion of Gordon County, GA.

Mrs. Blaylock was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

Evelyn loved her church, her garden, and her dear neighbors. She was an avid collector of fine antiques, especially art glass.

She was retired from a long career with Graybar Electric Company.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, James R. Blaylock; three sisters, Velva C. Teague and husband Troy, Thelma C. Scott and husband Buster, and Miss Essie Faye Champion; and two brothers, W.L. "Bill" Champion and wife Ruby, and J.W. Champion and wife Claudia.

Mrs. Blaylock is survived by her niece, Patti Champion Garner of Fairmount, GA; and three nephews, Harry W. Teague and wife Janice of Marietta, GA, Bill Teague of Adairsville, GA, and Jim Scott and wife Karen of Nashville, TN. Many grand-nieces and nephews, to whom she was devoted, and cherished lifelong friends, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Joseph Perry and wife Helen, also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
