Evelyn Champion Blaylock

January 22, 1927 — February 24, 2011

Evelyn Champion Blaylock, 85, a resident of Hixson, TN since 1974, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012. She was born January 22, 1927 to J. W. and Minnie Taylor Champion of Gordon County, GA.

She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Evelyn loved her church, her garden and her dear neighbors, and was an avid collector of fine antiques, especially art glass. She was retired from a long career with Graybar Electric Company. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, James R. Blaylock; three sisters, Velva C. Teague and husband, Troy, Thelma C. Scott and husband, Buster and Miss Essie Faye Champion; two brothers, W.L. ""Bill"" Champion and wife, Ruby and J.W. Champion and wife, Claudia.

She is survived by her niece, Patti Champion Garner of Fairmount, GA; three nephews, Harry W. Teague and wife Janice of Marietta, GA, Bill Teague of Adairsville, GA and Jim Scott and wife, Karen of Nashville, TN; many grand-nieces and nephews to whom she was devoted; and cherished lifelong friends, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Joseph Perry and wife, Helen.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
