Evelyn Jones

Mrs. Evelyn Bryant Jones, age 78 of Resaca, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness.

Mrs. Jones was born on July 25, 1930 in Gordon County, daughter of the late H.D. Bryant and Gwendolyn Prater Bryant. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Bryant. During her lifetime, she was employed in the textile industry and was a member of the Resaca First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jack D. Jones, to whom she was married for 59 years; a daughter, Debbie Jones of Resaca; two sons and their wives, Jim and Penny Jones, and Don and Trudy Jones, all of Resaca; a brother and his wife, L.D. (Buddy) and Emm Bryant of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Stacie Abernathy, Julie Thomas, Kenneth Jones and Lisa Aguirre; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Sarah and Will Thomas, Riley Abernathy, Tori Jones, and Jeremy Aguirre. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Bryant Jones will be conducted Monday at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Harold Bryant, Richard Cantrell, Charles Prater, Ron Prater, Joe Pistacchio and Don Jones. Interment will follow the service in the Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening, during the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
