Mr. F.A. Harmon, Jr., age 95 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 in Rome. He was born in Gordon County on September 15, 1914, son of the late F.A. Harmon, Sr. and Ora Bennett Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Mae Beason Harmon in 1999.
Mr. Harmon was an avid outdoorsman, and was a 50 year Master Mason of the Sonora Lodge #221 F & AM, and a member of the Sonora Eastern Star. He was a member of the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Reavis Harmon of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Renva and Bruce Watterson of Rome; three grandchildren, Tim Harmon, Charles Bruce Watterson, Jr., and Wendy Watterson Buntin; and four great-grandchildren, Tanner Harmon, Charles Bruce Watterson III, Annabelle Elaine Watterson, and John Harmon Buntin.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. F.A. Harmon, Jr. will be conducted Monday, January 25 at 11:00am from the Chandler Cemetery, with full Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Harmon's name to The Nature Conservancy in Georgia, 1330 West Peachtree St., Ste. 410, Atlanta, GA 30309-2904.
