Mrs. Florence Rogers Hopper, 85 of Calhoun, died Thursday, September 24, 2015. She was born in Floyd County on April 29, 1930, daughter of the late Colquitt Thomas and Mary Thackerson Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amy Poole.
Mrs. Hopper was a Christian of the Baptist faith and was a nurse at Hamilton Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband of almost 20 years, Charles Hopper; a son, Marvin Poole of Plainville; daughters, Gayla Scoggings and her husband Eric of Summerville, Glenda King and her husband Wayne of Dalton, Joy Owens of Lafayette, and Michelle Hopper of Smyrna; a brother, Hubert Rogers and his wife Peggy; a sister, Bessie Couey; grandchildren, Chris Owens, Jade Horton, Leah Poole, Lynsey King, Mary Poole, Andy Rhudy, and Jacob Poole; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 27th at 2:30 pm from Chandler Cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until 2:00 pm.
