Floyd Poarch

Mr. Floyd Poarch, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on January 5, 1929, son of the late Reuben A. and Olgalee Davis Poarch. During his lifetime, Mr. Poarch worked in the textile industry, retiring from Coronet Carpets. He was of the Church of God faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Junior and Carlton Poarch; and sisters; Dorthy Ellis, Mary Chapman, Jonnie McFarland, Sue Johns, and Shirley Gentry.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Annie Ruth Little Poarch; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Barbara Poarch of Calhoun; daughters, Pat Stone and her husband Rickey, Misty Dutton and her husband Joel, both of Calhoun, and Judy Heidel, of Alabaster, Alabama; and two brothers, Jack Poarch and Bob Poarch, both of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Poarch will be conducted Friday, March 14 at 3:00pm, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Jimmie Timms, and Rev. Woody Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Crane Eater Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Mike Poarch, Steve Poarch, Jason Hood, Cris Baggett, Joe Nix, and Josh Stone. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 2:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Stuart Heidel, Roy Chapman, Terry Poarch, Jerry Dodd, Jack Poarch, Jr., Daryl Poarch, Wayne McFarland, Tony Gentry, and Roger Johns. These are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 2:45pm.
