Ford Parker Silvers

June 16, 1946 — November 13, 2008

Mr. Ford Parker Silvers, age 62 of the Dews Pond Community, Calhoun, died at his residence Thursday, November 13, 2008. He was born in Gordon County on June 16, 1946, son of the late C. L. and Bessie Parker Silvers, and was of the Holiness Faith.

Ford worked most of his life in the chemical/adhesive business. He was a very hard worker and brilliant inventor of many products. He was well known in the community, as he met no strangers. Ford often pulled in an audience just to hear what he had to say. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Diane West Silvers; two sons, Derrick Silvers and his wife Amanda, and Jeremy Silvers and Cammy Renfro, all of Calhoun; two daughters, Stefanie Coker and her husband Anson of Adairsville, and Kristie Bennett and her husband Heath of Calhoun; a brother, Lawrence Silvers of Ranger; and eight sisters, Irene Davis of LaGrange, Elizabeth Tatum of Calhoun, Shelba Marker of Ranger, Stella Tatum of Adairsville, Doris Blaylock of Calhoun, Charlotte Vaughn of Kentucky, Sheila Callaway of Calhoun, and Deborah Tomlinson of Calhoun. Grandchildren; Cameron and Marlana Coker, Brianna Bennett, Deprise Bennett, and Preston, Coley and Peyton Silvers; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Ford Parker Silvers will be conducted Monday, November 17 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Lawrence Silvers and Rev. Dutch Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Randy Marker, Bryon Blaylock, Jon Silvers, Ashley Silvers, Dustin Tomlinson, and Tracy Tatum. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday at 2:00pm. Brothers-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
