Frances Goss Landress

Mrs. Frances Goss Landress, age 95 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Wilkes County, Georgia on May 16, 1913, daughter of the late Benjamin Hill Goss and Mattie Cochran Goss. Mrs. Landress was retired from Springs Industries, and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ray Landress; an infant brother; sisters, Stella Mae Long, Willene Knox, Bertha Bennett, and two other childhood sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Mary Lee Landress; a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Sonny Dutton; two sisters, Dorothy Woodall and Allene Charles; and a sister-in-law, Dixie Landress, all of Calhoun. Five grandchildren, Terresa Dutton, Mitchell Landress, Tony Landress, Greg Landress and Chad Landress; seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Collin, Kaylee, Caitlin, Dylan, Lacey, and Jeremy Landress; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Goss Landress will be conducted Friday, February 27 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
