Mrs. Frances Oliver, age 84 of Calhoun, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at Hamilton Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Gordon County on June 11, 1927, daughter of the late Willie Claude and Vola Etner Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Andy Oliver; brothers, Rex Smith, R.L. Smith, and Frank Smith; and sisters, Nana Roe and Betty Parker.

Mrs. Oliver was retired from the Calhoun City School System as lunch room manager. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Christine Oliver of Fayetteville, NC, Sammy and Bonnie Oliver of Calhoun, and James Jonathan and Paulette Oliver of Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Kelly Cordell of Calhoun; and a sister, Willie Sara Stanley of Calhoun. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Oliver will be held Wednesday, August 10 at 2:00pm from the Antioch Baptist Church, with Rev. Joel Southerland and Dr. William Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Todd Lambert, Mike Lambert, Scott Oliver, Andy Oliver, Bryce Pelfrey, and Ryan Lambert. The Pioneers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
