Frank Campbell

Mr. Frank Campbell, age 81, a well-known Barber from Calhoun and the Red Bud Community, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Gordon Hospital. He was a native of Gordon County, born on June 21, 1932 to the late Stanley and Etter Orr Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Campbell, C.L. Campbell, and J.M. Campbell; and a sister, Odessa Campbell Nelson.

Frank was an avid Red Bud Cardinal, and was a member of the class of 1951. He was an active supporter of Red Bud Athletics and instrumental in helping organize its football program. Frank joined in with others to help construct the original football field, and later was one of the founders of the Red Bud Band Boosters. He recently was the recipient of the Red Bud School "REACH" Award in reflection of his continued committment to the school. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In 1969, Frank began his career as a barber, joining his brother Fred at Gordon Hills Barber Shop, located then in Gordon Hills Shopping Center. He remained there until Fred died, and then founded the Parkway Barber Shop on W.C. Bryant Parkway, later relocating to 1130 Red Bud Road. Frank was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Glenese Owens Campbell of the residence; three daughters, Jennifer Campbell Bearden and her husband Roger of Calhoun, Jamie Campbell Mullinax and her husband Tony of Calhoun, and Jeana Campbell of Bowden, GA; a son, Jeffery Campbell of Adairsville; grandchildren, Terea Campbell, Brody Campbell, Kayla Clark and her husband Taylor, Kortni Hales, Jamon Hales, Garrett Dinkins, Camie Tyler Campbell, Allison Mullinax and Anna Mullinax; and two great-grandchildren, Clint Weston Campbell and Jaxon Eli Clark. Two sisters, Emily Thompson and her husband Johnny Mac of Calhoun, and Christine Wallace of Calhoun also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Frank Campbell will be conducted Saturday, August 24th at 3:00 PM from Bethesda Baptist Church, with Rev. Barry Brock and Rev. Wesley Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbell Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Steven Cochran will conduct the committal service. Active pallbearers serving will include Larry Dixon, Paul Denova, Pat Baker, Jeff Grizzle, Stanley Chambers, Don Estes, Donald Bearden and Heath Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Martin, Jerry Clements, Pat Thornton, Chuck Williams, Don Pain, Richard Weaver, C.L. Weaver, Carl Blackmon, Danny Lowery, Jerry Smith, Joseph Williams and David Stokes.

The Campbell family will receive friends at Bethesda Baptist Church on Friday, August 23rd between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and on Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The church is located in the Red Bud community at 146 Bethesda Baptist Church Road NE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
