Frank Pledger

Mr. Frank Doyal Pledger, age 87 of Ranger, GA, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Golden Living Health Care in Rome after several years of declining health.

Mr. Pledger, a native of Floyd County, was born on June 1, 1928, son of the late James Albert Pledger and Mary Phillips Pledger. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Ella Nora Ray, in 2011; and by his second wife, Barbara White Pledger, in 2009, to whom he was married for 32 years; his two brothers, Shelton and Gilbert Pledger; his step-brother, Charlie Pledger; and his step-sisters, Annie Ball Pledger and Eunice Terry Pledger.

Prior to his retirement from Shaw Carpet in 1994, his career began in 1948 at Pepperell Mills, where he worked his way to Fixer. He then worked at Trend Mills, and was promoted to the 2nd shift Supervisor, which was his most prized accomplishment in his entire working career. He was a member of College Street Church of God.

Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife Barbara to visit his grandkids. His passion was tinkering around the yard with various projects, such as working on his Volkswagens and growing tomatoes for his family and friends, along with performing tasks by himself that should have required several men to accomplish.

Family members surviving are, two sons, Jerry Pledger and his wife Peggy of Lindale, and Dale Pledger and his wife Pamela of Kingston; step-sons, Eric Putnam and his wife Christy of Calhoun, Tim Putnam and his wife Susie of Augusta, Chris Putnam and his wife Colleen of Ellijay, and Eugene Putnam of Ranger; grandchildren, Shad Pledger, Brandon Pledger, Brandie Dewey and Heather Pledger; step grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Putnam, Erin and Laurel Putnam, Richard Putnam, Barbara Port, and Adam Putnam; great grandchildren, Alexis Pledger, Cassie Knowles, Destiny Tate, Tyler Tate, Trent Dean, Kaylee Dewey, Cody Dewey and Dylan Pledger, Abigail Port, Caiden and Aisley Putnam, Christopher and Zander Putnam, and Damien, Zenith and Gareth Putnam; a great-great grandchild, Chaslyn Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Shaw of Calhoun, Joann White of Ranger, Joan Dutton of Calhoun, Joy and John Dutton of Calhoun, and Donny and Shelia White of Red Bud.

A graveside service for Mr. Frank Doyal Pledger will be held Wednesday, February 24th from State Line Baptist Church Cemetery, 8536 Blacks Bluff Road SW, Cave Spring, GA at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Pallbearers serving include, Shad Pledger, Brandon Pledger, Dylan Pledger and Jay Smith.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 23rd between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, 705 Old Red Bud Road in Calhoun.
