Franklin Leroy Thompson

Mr. Franklin Leroy Thompson, Sr., age 82 of Calhoun, Georgia died Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2007 at Redmond Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.

Mr. Thompson was born on February 05, 1925 at Greenville, Maryland, son of the late Joseph Enos Thompson and Martha Rebecca Young Thompson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Thompson, and by four sisters and three brothers. During his lifetime, Mr. Thompson served his country with the United States Army and later worked for Balto County in the maintenance department, where he retired. He attended Boone Ford Baptist Church.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Edna Duff Thompson of the home; four daughters; Elaine Thompson, Kathy Howard and Sharon Davis, all of Calhoun; Karen Milio of Pennsylvania; two sons; Franklin Leroy Thompson, Jr. of Maryland, and Charles Daniel Thompson of Calhoun. One sister, Virgie Gover of Maryland, twenty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Franklin Leroy Thompson, Sr. will be conducted Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Quarles officiating. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday, beginning at 11:00am. Following the funeral service, at the request of Mr. Thompson, his body will be cremated.
