Obituary
Gary "Gooch" Long, 60, died at his home on Wednesday, February 20, 2019; a golden heart stopped beatinghis hardworking hands now rest. Gary was born in Calhoun on June 7, 1958; he was the son of the late Clarence and Mildred Dean Long. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby great-grandchild, Peanut. He had attended Hall Memorial Baptist Church. For many years, Gary was a carpenter. He retired from Freeman Construction.
Gary is survived by his companion of eighteen years, Susie Craig; his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Joe Peacock; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Long; his grandchildren, Edward Kirby, Brooklyn Long, Shannon Peacock, Amber Gilbert, and Nikki Ross; his great-grandchildren, Jesse Maestrey, Autumn Phillips, Ashlyn Danielle; his brothers, Henry Long, and Clayton Long and his wife, Sherry; his sister, Shirley Baker and her husband, Jeff; nieces, nephews, cousins, uncle, and in-laws.
The Long family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Wayne Davis will officiate. Pallbearers are Joe Peacock, David West, James Thurman, Ricky Freeman, Jimmy Selman, and Chris Monte.
