Gene Bell

Mr. Gene Bell, age 78 of Ellijay, GA, formerly of Gordon County, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on June 25, 1935, son of the late John and Tiny Moss Bell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Callahan Bell; five brothers, Randolph, Grady, Cliff, Ben, and Walt Bell; and five sisters, Velma Stanfield Maze, Jonnie Mae Barton, Anlen Logan, Laura Blankenship, and Mert Padgett.

Mr. Bell had resided in Gilmer County for the past 15 years, and had operated Jeff's Bait and Tackle for 10 years.

He leaves behind a son, Jeffery Bell of Ellijay; three daughters, Carolyn Hughes of Ellijay, Melinda Ann Willis of Eton, and Janice Pearce and her husband Ward of Fort Pierce, FL; a sister, Vivian Stanfield of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Angela Boatwright, Kelley Hall, Shelia Price, Stephanie Claire, Ronnie Coleman, Dewayne Willis, Chasity Newton, Amber Bell, Garrett Bell, Brian Moss, Brandon Moss, and Wade Bell. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.



Funeral services for Mr. Gene Bell will be held Sunday, September 22nd at 3:00 PM from the Crane Eater Community Church, with Pastor Dwaine Shadix officiating. Music will be arranged by Wayne Foubert. Interment will follow in the Crane Eater Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Garrett Bell, Brian Moss, Ronnie Coleman, Dewayne Willis, Wade Bell, and Brandon Moss.

The Bell family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
