Mr. Gene Hannah, age 73 of Sugar Valley, died Friday, March 28th, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Hannah was born in Heard County, Georgia on July 6th, 1934. He was the son of the late William and Lillian Johnston Hannah. Mr. Hannah was involved in the Textile and Carpet industry prior to his retirement. He was a member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and served as a deacon. Those preceding him in death other than his parents is a daughter, Beverly Lea Hannah and four sisters; Tommie Lou Jackson, Louise Sneed, Norene Hughes and Lucille Eady, and one brother, Edward Hannah.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Adamson Hannah; two daughters, Mrs. Jennifer Wilson and her husband Terry of Calhoun, and Denise Thompson and her husband Dan of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Amanda Hannah Burns and her husband Josh of Germany, Zachary Stafford and his wife Anna of Atlanta, Hannah Thompson, Madison Thompson and Reagan Thompson, all of Greenville, S.C.; one great grandchild, Courtland Burris of Germany; five sisters, Thelma McSwain of Gainesville, FL, Annice Bell and her husband Claud of LaGrange, GA, Betty Sansome of Punta Gorda, FL, Christine Cassell of Carrolton, GA, Doris Cassell of Franklin, GA; one brother, Carl Hannah of Mableton, GA, and one brother in law, O.T. Eady of Riverdale, GA.

Funeral services for Mr. Gene Hannah will be held Monday, March 31st at 1:00 PM from Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Wayne Shadix officiating. Interment is to follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include the men of the "Young at Heart" Sunday school class. Honorary pallbearers serving will include the ladies of the "Young at Heart" Sunday school class.

The Hannah family will receive friends Sunday between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
