Mr. Norman Gene "Bean" Leonard, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cherokee County, GA on April 8, 1932, son of the late Benjamin and Lucille Clayton Leonard, and was also preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Jessie, Bradford, Grady, John "J.R", and G.W. "Dub" Leonard; and sisters, Ruth Leonard, Mavis Fortenberry, and Elizabeth Burchett.
Mr. Leonard had retired from the textile industry, and was a charter member of the Hee-Haw Quartet of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ellen Hale Leonard of the residence; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jeff Grizzle of Calhoun; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Dale and Debra Brooks Leonard; a sister and brother-in-law, Flaurmae and Lawrence Hale; and grandchildren, Kristie Leonard, Kira Leonard Clerc and her husband James Marc Clerc, Zach Tyler Grizzle, Blake Elliott Grizzle, and Alex Damien Leonard. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Norman Gene "Bean" Leonard will be held Friday, February 10th at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Donnie Summey, Rev. Jack Edwards, and Rev. Lane Towe officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Wiley Leonard, Wayne Leonard, Gary Scott, Jack Darrell, Gene Morrow, and Steve Sanford. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Friday at 12:15pm. Honorary pallbearers are Timmy Stanfield, Mark Stanfield, John Stanfield, Avery Chadwick, and Cecil Conway.
The Leonard family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
