Gene Mcbee

Mr. Gene McBee, age 69, of Calhoun, died Friday evening, January 15th, 2009 in Gordon Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. McBee was born in Gordon County on May 4, 1940, son of the late Lee and Myrtle Sisson McBee. The greater part of his adult life, he was employed by Meadowbrook Dairy as a route salesman, and later retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a man who loved being with his family, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, and gardening was his favorite hobby. Mr. McBee was a member of New Town Baptist Church, and the Coosawattee Lodge #306 F&AM.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Stephens McBee, to whom he was married for 52 years; a daughter, Lynn McBee Brannon and her husband Eddie; a granddaughter, Heather Brannon Hamilton and her husband William; a grandson, Matt Brannon and his wife Dee Dee; a great-grandson, Brooks Brannon, and two great- granddaughters, Carson Hamilton and Libby Brannon, all of Calhoun. Three sisters, Grethel Blankenship of Resaca, Morene Arnold and her husband Sam of Rome, and Patty Barton and her husband David of Calhoun: two brothers, Johnny McBee and his wife Dell of Resaca, and Larry (Buck) McBee and his wife Betty of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Gene McBee will be held at 3:00p.m. Sunday, January 17th, from New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. William Roberts officiating. The interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Rev. John Bearden in charge of the graveside service.

Pallbearers serving will include Michael Stephens, Chris Stephens, Jeff McBee, Ricky McBee, Jamie Barton, Ronnie Blankenship and Troy Casey. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Quinn, Bruce Hurd, Billy Hamilton, David Pack, Jackie Parker, Max McBee, Mac Willix and Tommy Smith. These gentlemen are asked to assemble at the church at 2:30 pm Sunday.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm at the funeral Home.
