George Farris Stone

Mr. George Farris Stone, age 69 of Ranger, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome following an extended illness. He was born in Pickens County, Georgia on February 23, 1940, son of the late Onice and Julie Young Stone. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Neal (N.A.) Stone.

Mr. Stone was employed as a truck driver during his lifetime, and was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Joan Wren Stone; two sons, Dennis Wiley of Calhoun, and Charles Wesley Wiley of Hasting, Nebraska; three daughters, Deborah Lorraine Neece of Doraville, Donna Marie Wiley and her companion Terry Garcia of Chatsworth, and Darlene Yvette Grauer and her husband Mike of Columbia, Tennessee; six brothers, Howard Stone of Bostwick, Georgia, Buford Stone of Anderson, South Carolina, Mose Edward Stone of Madison, Georgia, D.W. Stone of Bostwick, B.H. Stone of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Butch Stone of Bostwick; and five sisters, Mamie Lee Peppers of Bostwick, Gloria Jean Angel of Bishop, Louise Angel of Bishop, Myrtleann Broach of Bostwick, and Dolly Henson of Bishop. Five grandchildren, Trevor Beaupre, Chadwick Wiley, Sean and Ashley Neece, and Brooke Wiley; a great-grandchild, Shelby Wiley; two aunts, Mettie Hendrix of Ranger, and Gannell Mulkey of Jasper, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. George Farris Stone will be conducted Sunday, April 26 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
