Mr. George W. Goble, age 79, of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, August 01, 2007 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Pickens County on July 28, 1928, son of the late Neal and Mary Center Goble. He was a retired textile worker, and was President of the Oostanaula Community Club, where he was a member for over 22 years. He was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Plainville.
Mr. Goble was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Faye Fountain Goble.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Tucker Jones Goble of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law; Gail Pearce and her husband Bob, and Darlene Smith and her husband Ernie, both of Calhoun; a step-son; Randy Jones of Calhoun; five grandchildren; Stacey Bennett, Lamar Cronon, Chris Davis, Madison Smith, and Matthew Smith; and five great grandchildren; Zack and Austin Bennett, Halley and Gabrielle Cronon, and Cali Davis.
Funeral services for Mr. George W. Goble will be conducted Friday, August 3, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Gaddis, and Rev. Jimmie Timms officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
