Gilbert Barnette

Mr. Gilbert Barnette, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on March 11, 1936, son of the late Levi and Norabell Moore Barnette. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jeannette Bailey Barnette; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Tony Holbrook, and Sonja and Roger Revels, both of Calhoun; and a sister, Betty Holland of Calhoun. Four grandchildren; Christina Williams and her husband Charlie, Joseph Revels and his wife Jina, Jade Holbrook, and Amy Holbrook, and one great-grandchild, Emily Williams also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert Barnette will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday, February 2nd from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Clinton Green and Joseph Revels officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Joseph Revels, Tony Holbrook, Larry Barnette, Jerry Wofford, Daryl Sutherland, and Sam Momon. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 1:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
