Mrs. Gladys Gencie Blake, age 83 of Chatsworth, GA, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at her residence. She was a native of Murray County, daughter of the late Berrie and Lelia Jenkins Baggett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee McCoy Blake; a son, Marty Edward Blake; and three brothers, James Baggett, Daris Baggett, and Thomas Baggett.
Mrs. Blake was a homemaker during her lifetime, and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include three sons, Elbert Lee Blake and his wife Rosie, and Vernon Lamar Blake, all of Chatsworth, and Jerry Thomas Blake and his wife Sandra of Resaca; four daughters, Barbara Ann Land of Resaca, Annette Ray and her husband Wayne of Cisco, Shirley Diane Dutton and her husband Albert Lee of Resaca, and Sharon Jane Stanley of Chatsworth; four brothers, Lee Baggett of Ellijay, Willard Baggett of Tennessee, Edgar Baggett of Calhoun, and Dayton Baggett of Tennessee; and a sister, Ruby Arrington of Dalton. Sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Gencie Blake will be conducted Wednesday, March 16th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce Beach officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial Baptist Church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Music will be arranged by the Randolph Family Singers.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
