Mrs. Gladys M. (Memaw) Minter, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2007 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on April 7, 1932, daughter of the late Charlie and Margaret Pilgrim Motes. During her lifetime, she worked in the textile industry and operated a daycare in her home.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Minter was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Tolliver Minter; several brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Margaret Minter of Sugar Valley; three daughters, Shirley Long and her husband Billy of Sugar Valley, Brenda Wilson of Calhoun, and Marie Spell of Calhoun; and a brother, Bob Motes of Piedmont, Alabama. Five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and special friends Paula Richards, Jack Poarch, and Autumn Payne also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys M. (Memaw) Minter will be conducted Sunday, April 12 at 4:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Quarles officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday after 5:00pm.
