Glenda Ruth Quarles

Mrs. Glenda Ruth Quarles, age 65 of Resaca, GA passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Rome. She was born in Floyd County on March 4, 1947, daughter of the late Charlie and Dovie Stansell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Karen Stansell, Doris Boykin, and Patricia Smith; and two brothers, Donald Stansell and Jonathon Stansell.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Quarles was employed in the textile industry. She was a member of the Boone Ford Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Billy Gene Quarles of the residence; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Lisa Quarles of Resaca; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Jose "Pepe" Rivas of Resaca, Angela and Chris Kamami of Resaca, and Mamie and Randy Long of Fairmount; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Stansell of Dawnville, GA; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma and Walter Ray of Calhoun, Brenda and Donald Gaddis of Jasper, Barbara and Roger Cox of Rome, Stephanie and Randy Flippen of Calhoun, and Jean and Gene Blair of Dawnville. Grandchildren surviving are William Emory Quarles, Brandy Justina Mae Long, Cody William Newport, Lance Corporal Benjamin Grady Newport, E3 Lance Corporal Zachary Ray Goswick, Jessica Lynn Goswick, Melessio Miguel Quarles, Janette Magdalena Quarles, Nick Alan Ward, Dakota Shane Quarles, and Jacqueline Kinuthia; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian Luke Goswick and Jamari Kinuthia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Glenda Ruth Quarles will be held Friday, June 15th at 2:00pm from the Boone Ford Baptist Church, with Rev. Vince Gulledge, Rev. Sammy Ray, and Rev. Marvin Carr officiating. Interment will follow in the Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jon Gulledge, Rick Blasengame, Sammy Smith, Adam Smith, Matthew Boykin, William Quarles, Zach Goswick, Benji Newport, Melessio Quarles, and Cody Newport. Honorary pallbearers are Jr. (H.L.) Caldwell, Charles Ellis, Kenneth Caldwell, Dakota Quarles, and Nic Ward.

The Quarles family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday after 5:00pm.
