Glenn Scoggins

Mr. Glenn Alton Scoggins, age 87, a well known resident and farmer of Fairmount, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his residence following eleven months of declining health.

Mr. Scoggins was born on August 22, 1924 in Pine Log, GA, son of the late Julian Eugene (J.E.) and Eula Herndon Scoggins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Syble Reathel Cochran Scoggins; a daughter, Patsy Scoggins; an honorary son, Teddy Scoggins; a sister, Lucille Garland; and a brother, Rev. H.W. (Weldon ) Scoggins. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II, and had retired as a poultry and cattle farmer.

Mr. Scoggins is survived by a daughter, Audrey Young and her husband Bo Bo of Fairmount; three sons, Ronnie Scoggins and his wife Sandra of Calhoun, Travis Scoggins and his wife Judy of Rydal, and Carl Scoggins of Ranger; a sister, Anita Garren of Charlottesville, VA; and two brothers, Darrell Scoggins and Bill Scoggins and his wife Betty of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren survive and incldude Alton Scoggins, Natasha Scoggins, Bridget Scoggins, Jennifer Scoggins Hendley, Dustin Scoggins, Craig Scoggins, Brandon Young and Kyle Young; and eight great- grandchildren. Nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Glenn Alton Scoggins will be conducted Monday, July 16, 2012 at 3:00pm from the Pleasant Olive Baptist Church in Rydal, with Rev. Harris Scoggins and Rev. Reggie Temples officiating. Music will be arranged by Mr. Troy Moss and Mrs. Sally Jones. Pallbearers serving will include Bill Cochran, Grady Crider, Richard Townsend, John Upshaw, Keith Taylor, Alton Scoggins, Dustin Scoggins, Kyle Young, Craig Scoggins and Brandon Young. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The Scoggins family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday after 4:00pm.
