Grace Holt

Mrs. Grace Holt, age 70 of Calhoun, passed away February 14, 2008 at Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, GA. She was born in Polk County, TN on April 15, 1937, daughter of the late James and Nellie Hall Darnell. During her lifetime, she worked in the textile industry, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Holt, and two brothers; John Henry Darnell, and Prince Lee Brewer.

Survivors include five sons; Charles Gary Groomes of Chatsworth, Floyd Edward Groomes of Calhoun, Glen Douglas Groomes of Plainville, Jeffrey Groomes of Calhoun, and Anthony (Tony) Earl Groomes of Nashville, TN; four daughters, Jeannette A. Rich of Calhoun, Vera Darlene Young of Florida, Mildred P. Ballew of Calhoun, and Linda R. Summey of Alapaha, GA; and two sisters, Ethelene Banks and Minnie Maples, both of Cleveland, TN. Nineteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Holt will be conducted Monday, February 18 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Quarles officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
