Mr. Grady Garland, age 69 of Calhoun, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Cherokee County, GA on May 27, 1944, son of the late Dan and Veda Lue Jones Garland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lon Garland, and a sister, Charity Silvers.
Grady was retired from Lockheed-Martin, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Diane Shepherd Garland of the residence; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Wayne Banks of Calhoun; two brothers, Mack Garland of Kingston and Monroe Garland of Plainville; a sister, Mamie Smith of Plainville; a special grandson, Justin Phipps; step-grandsons, Bryson and Brandon Banks; great-grandchildren, Caymon and Marlee Phipps, and Skyler Delp; and step great-grandchildren, Colt, Jade, and Kiara Banks. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Grady Garland will be held Tuesday, September 3rd at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Terry Timms officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wayne Banks, Brandon Banks, Terry Timms, and Tony Timms.
The Garland family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
