Grady Goble

Mr. Grady Goble, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his residence following nine years of declining health. He was born in Oakman, GA, on December 8, 1934, son of the late Joe and Mary Brown Goble. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Goble, Jack Goble, and Taylor Goble.

Mr. Goble was self-employed in the logging, farming, poultry, and cattle business. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 50 years. He loved farming and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Rachel Henson Goble; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Paula Goble of Calhoun; three daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and John Leatherwood, Cathy and Tommy Smith, and Debbie and Tony West, all of Calhoun; and a brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Della Goble of Houghton Lake, Michigan. Grandchildren surviving are Nathan and Anna Leatherwood, Adam and Stephanie Smith, Andrew and Mary Leatherwood, April Goble, Josh and Betsy West, and Trey and Kayla Goble; and great-grandchildren, Riley Goble, Xander Smith, Ryder Goble, Grady Leatherwood, Everett Leatherwood, and Boland Leatherwood. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Grady Goble will be held Thursday, February 20th at 1:00 PM from Mount Olive Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Hibberts, Rev. Ronnie Wells, and Rev. John Leatherwood officiating. Music will be arranged by Wanda Hibberts. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Nathan Leatherwood, Adam Smith, Andrew Leatherwood, Josh West, Trey Goble, Bobby Goble, Sammy Goble, and Jimmy Goble. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

The Goble family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Mount Olive Baptist Church Fellowship Fund, or the American Cancer Society, 200 W. Emery St. Ste. 3, Dalton, GA, 30720.
