Grady Lee Timms

Mr. Grady Lee Timms age 83, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, died Wednesday July 1, 2009 at his residence following several years of declining health.

Mr. Timms was born in Gordon County on October 2, 1925, son of the late John and Janie Parsons Timms. Before his retirement he was employed by the Gordon County Road Department. He was a member of Evangelistic Outreach Church.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II, and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Timms was preceded in death by four brothers, Hershel, Arthur, Columbus, and John Timms, and by two sisters, Viola Kirby and Exie Childers.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Evelyn Fuller Timms; a son, Lee Timms; and a special niece, Patricia Timms Jackson. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Grady Lee Timms will be held Friday, July 3rd at 1:00pm from Evangelistic Outreach Church, with Rev. Delmar Ledford, Rev. L.C. Davis and Rev. Lloyd Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with military honors. Active pallbearers serving include Joe Silvers, Tom Silvers, Courtney Timms, Steve Silvers, Timmy Stone and Tony Holder. Honorary pallbearers serving include members of the V.F.W. Post #406 of Calhoun, along with Shane Shelton, Jason West, Willard Childers, and Tommy Fuller.

The family of Grady Lee Timms will receive friends Thursday after 4:00pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed and the guest book signed at www.maxbrannonandsons.com. Family owned and operated Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home is conducting the funeral services for Mr. Grady Lee Timms, of Calhoun.
