Mr. Grady Russell Roden, age 76 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Fulton County on September 3, 1933, son of the late Gilbert Earl and Vera May Housmer Roden. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Roden, and two sisters, Helen Leverett and Melba Jean Ray.
During his lifetime, Mr. Roden was employed by Texture-Tech as a technician, and was a lay minister and evangelist. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of Living Waters Ministries.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Jean Layne Roden; six sons, David Roden and his wife Gail of Ranger, Ronnie Roden and his wife JoAnn of Dalton, Gary Wayne Roden of Atlanta, Dale Lockard and his wife Beverly, Earl Dean Lockard, and Chris Lockard, all of Calhoun; five daughters, Sandra Darlene Roden and Cynthia Ann Berryhill, both of Atlanta, Donna Sue Baker and her husband Steve, Loretta Taylor and her husband Chris, and Denise Silvers and her husband Bobby, all of Calhoun; a brother, William Roden of Sugar Valley; and a sister, Doris Long of Calhoun. Thirty grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Grady Russell Roden will be conducted Tuesday, March 9th at 2:00pm from the Tabernacle of Praise, with Pastor Rick Adcock and Pastor Roy Smith officiating. Music will be arranged by the Faith and Deliverance Inspirational Leaders, Joe Wheaton, and the Tabernacle of Praise Singers. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Scott Culberson, Geron Culberson, Scott Long, Steve Long, Kenneth Long, and Edward Silvers. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:00pm. Honorary pallbearers are Elmer Prater, Horace Jackson, David Roden, Jr., Jason Brannon, Randy Wheat, and Joe Wheaton.
