Gregory Allen Barfield

Sergeant Gregory Allen Barfield (US Army Ret.), age 60 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at a Rome hospital. He was born in Fayetteville, NC on August 4, 1950, son of the late Billy and Patty Johnson Barfield.

Sgt. Barfield served his country in the US Army, and received the following medals and citations; the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medal 2nd Award, Expert Badge M-16, Driver Badge, and Mechanic Badge.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Collis; three daughters, Angie Campbell and her husband Carl of Fayetteville, NC, Lisa Barfield of Calhoun, and Michelle Potts and her husband Shane of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Butch Barfield and David Barfield; a sister, Ellen Barfield, all of North Carolina; and a granddaughter, Jenna Campbell. A special friend, Maelyn Couch, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Memorial services for Sergeant Gregory Allen Barfield will be conducted Tuesday, October 5th at 11:00am from the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full military honors.
