Grover Russell

Grover "G.C." Russell, age 92, of Stanford, KY, formerly of Calhoun, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in Danville, KY. He was born October 18, 1918 in Rome to the late Grover C. and Julie Branton Russell. Mr. Russell was a truck driver and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Stanford, KY. He was the widower of Carolyn McDaniel Russell, to whom he was married for 58 years.

Survivors include his present wife, Elsie Rankin Russell of Stanford, KY; a son, Edward Russell and his wife Anita; and a daughter, Laurel Clark all of Calhoun; a brother, Frank Russell of San Diego, California; and two sisters, Julie Mae Bishop of Jonesboro, GA, and Peggy Scalf of Port St. Lucie, FL; five grandchildren, Monte Clark, Dia Johnson, Caitlin, Shannon and Geoff Russell, six great-grandchildren, Monte Paul, Peyton, and Caroline Clark, Clark, Russell and Alea Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Daniel Earl Russell.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford, KY. A visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, and funeral services will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fain Cemetery in Calhoun. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, and the Diabetes Association.

Pallbearers will be Billy Brown, Ray Erwin, Mitchell Greeson, Ronnie Dodd, Paul Clark and Donald Bowen. .
