Harold Dodd

Mr. Harold Vester Dodd, age 72 of Calhoun, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born in Gordon County on November 5, 1940, son of the late Roy and Ethel Bagley Dodd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Sims Dodd in 2009; two brothers, Waylon Dodd and Harlen Dodd; and two sisters, Charlene Fain and Melba Dodd.

Harold was an active member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He loved to fish, and was known for his vegetable gardens. He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army.

He leaves behind three daughters, Susan Walraven and her husband Randy of Ranger, Deborah Crump of Chatsworth, and Tonya Bowman and her husband Greg of Calhoun; four brothers, Bill Dodd, C.J. Dodd, Ford Dodd, and Ronnie Dodd and his wife Melissa, all of Calhoun; and five sisters, Shirley Roland of Calhoun, Evelyn Oliver and her husband Jesse of Centre, AL, Faye Dodd, Hope Lewis and her husband Gary, and Carol Dodd, all of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Crystal Whitfield and her husband George, Cassie Walraven, Caleb Walraven and his wife Rachel, Cody Walraven, Lea Crump, Kendall Bowman, and Lindsay Bowman. A great-grandchild, George Whitfield III, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Vester Dodd will be held Monday, July 22nd at 2:00 PM from the Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim McCulley, Rev. Aaron McCulley, and Rev. Perry Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jeff Dodd, Matthew Dodd, George Whitfield, Aaron McCulley, Phil Roland, and Tim Mulkey.

The Dodd family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 PM.
