Harold Jackie Hollis

Mr. Harold Jackie Hollis, age 64 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Whitfield County on November 16, 1946 to Frances West Fitzgerald and the late Norman Hollis. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Roland Fitzgerald.

Mr. Hollis was retired as a custodian from the Gordon County School System. He attended the Evergreen Baptist Church

Survivors include his wife of 43 years Linda Sue Presnell Hollis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Ann Hollis of Fairmount, and Charlie and Deanna Presnell of Chatsworth; his mother, Frances West Fitzgerald of Calhoun; and a sister, Janie Wilson of Torrance, CA. Grandchildren surviving are Kara Hollis and Dallas Hollis of Fairmount, Travis Weaver of Chatsworth, and Amanda Weaver of Dalton; and great-grandchildren, Tyson, Christina, Taylor, and Noell Weaver of Dalton. Two uncles, Robert West of Chatsworth, and Billy West of Texas, and nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Jackie Hollis will be held Friday, April 22nd at 2:00pm from the Evergreen Baptist Church, with Rev. Crawford Greeson and Rev. Johnny Beason officiating. Mr. Hollis will lie in state at the church Friday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm. Interment will follow in the Fidelle Cemetery with Rev. Mike Gibson and Rev. Joe Hall conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Tony Jackson, Shane Jackson, Ricky Crook, Reed Crook, Troy Breeden, and Joseph Crook. Travis Weaver, Frankie Fain, and Jerome Silvers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St., Suite 106, Dalton, GA 30720, or the Gordon County Humane Society, 790 Harris Beamer Rd., Calhoun, GA 30701.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday after 5:00pm.
