Harold Wallace Herrington

Mr. Harold Wallace Herrington, age 72 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Rome, following several years of declining health.

He was born in Fulton County, Georgia on February 6, 1937, son of the late Henry Rogers Herrington and Iva Allene Johnson Herrington. Prior to moving to Gordon County, he and his wife Becky lived in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and he lived the greater part of his life in Marietta, Georgia. He was retired following a career with Howard Paper Company and Blanchard Lumber Company of Marietta. Mr. Herrington was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion, and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet H. Jones of Andrews, NC, and by a brother, Calvin R. Herrington of McDonough, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Becky McLeod Herrington of Calhoun, to whom he was married for 41 years, and a sister, Brenda H. Platt of East Point. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold Wallace Herrington will be conducted Monday, January 17, 2011 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Robin Harrison officiating.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in his memory.
