Hastel Blanton

Mr. Hastel Lee Blanton, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Gordon Hospital.

He was born on August 20, 1941 in Cherokee County, son of the late John Henry and Bellie Blanton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Lingerfelt Blanton, and a grandchild, Regina Mae Blanton. He had retired from Pliant Industries, and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Resaca where he was a Deacon and Choir Director.

Mr. Blanton is survived by two daughters, Kathy Petty and her husband Jackie of Resaca, and Jean Petty of Dalton; a son, Frankie Blanton and his wife Debra of Resaca; a sister, Thelma Barnes of Canton; four grandchildren, Frankie Blanton, Jr., Brittany Petty, Heather Carnes and Lee Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Hastel Lee Blanton will be conducted Tuesday, November 23rd at 2:00pm from the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Resaca, with Rev. Tim Sanford, Rev. Ryan Sanford, Rev. Charles Mulkey and Rev. Leroy Mulkey officiating. Music will be arranged by the Bethlehem Baptist Church choir. Active pallbearers will include Randall Carnes, James Lanier, Jimmy Petty, Ronnie Lingerfelt, Jeff Lingerfelt and Chris Pack. The deacons of Bethlehem Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

On Monday, Mr. Blanton will be carried to the church to lie in state where the family will receive friends after 3:00pm.
